When replacement is the appropriate solution
Repair is suitable only for small chips and short cracks located outside the driver's primary field of vision. Once a crack reaches the edge of the glass, exceeds six inches in length, or falls within the wiper sweep directly in front of the driver, replacement is required. Edge cracks are particularly susceptible to rapid propagation due to temperature fluctuations, a common concern during downtown Toronto's winter months.
Our downtown installation process
Operating from 412 Richmond Street East, we serve the area between Bathurst Street and the Don River with efficient dispatch times. Our technician arrives at your condo parking level or office location, sets up protective coverings, and removes the damaged glass using cold-knife or fiber-line cutters to preserve the integrity of the pinch weld. The bonding surface is prepared, a continuous bead of manufacturer-rated urethane is applied, and the replacement windshield is positioned using suction cups with precision alignment. The safe-drive-away time, typically 60 to 90 minutes, is confirmed before the vehicle is returned to service.
OEM and OEE glass options
OEM glass is sourced from the vehicle manufacturer's approved supplier and carries the manufacturer's logo. OEE (Original Equipment Equivalent) glass is manufactured to the same DOT specifications on equivalent production lines but does not carry the branding. For most vehicles, OEE provides comparable optical clarity and acoustic performance at a lower cost. For vehicles equipped with rain sensors, heads-up displays, or heated wiper parks, OEM glass is generally recommended to ensure exact compatibility with brackets and coatings.
