Defroster grid reconnection
The rear window functions as a heating element. The thin horizontal lines are silver-bearing conductive paint baked onto the interior surface, connected to power via two terminal tabs. After installing the new glass, we resolder these tabs or apply conductive adhesive for glass that cannot tolerate solder heat, then verify defroster function end-to-end. Failure to complete this step results in persistent fogging throughout the fall and winter months.
Watertight sealing
We clean the pinch weld to bare paint, apply primer to the bonding area, and lay a continuous bead of urethane without interruption. The window is positioned with suction cups for alignment and secured with tape until the urethane skins over. Once fully cured, the bond is structural, eliminating rattles, trunk leaks, and moisture-related odor.
Wipers, antennas, and trim
Most rear windows incorporate additional components, including integrated radio antennas, rear wiper motors mounted through sealed grommets, or high-mounted brake-light bars. We transfer or reconnect each of these elements before returning the vehicle. If trim becomes brittle from sun exposure and breaks during removal — common on vehicles older than seven years — we notify you in advance and source replacement clips to ensure a factory-tight finish.
Driving with a temporary plastic covering compromises both safety and climate control. Contact us for same-day rear glass replacement and restoration of your vehicle's rear defroster and seal integrity.
